Must have been a bad week...
Sunday, July 15, 2007
I'm just saying... I've heard funnier.
Update: it is still not the funniest idea for a show I've heard this week, but I checked out the latest episode and it could be an interesting show. The opening starts off goofy like its going to be some sort of crank show, but then they go out on the street at night and interview (presumably drunk) people about a specific topic. I watch ed the one on illegal immigration.

Podshow Channels Hacked?
Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Probably not. Its more likely that a wire got crossed or something and Todd's show got mashed up into the "Old Time Radio Channel" that Adam was linking to. Still, it was a little weird hearing Todd Cochrane's voice from Geek News Central coming from a link on Adam Curry's blog.
The flub was corrected in record time. In fact, I went back to capture a better screen recording immediately (I had the audio input set to 'mic') and it had already been fixed.

Podshow gets hacked
Tuesday, June 05, 2007
I received several duplicate messages from someone claiming to have hacked Podshow. There was a little talk of it on Twitter, and then I received this one:
Twitter (12:31 pm): adamcurry: Might as well tweet this one: Looks like our email database has been compromised, so far no other apparent damage, but it definitely sux.
Annoying for sure, but its not like they have my SSN or anything. As he says though, that's gotta suck.

Was Podshow Down This Morning?
Thursday, March 29, 2007
I'd certainly like to think so, because the alternative just kind of pisses me off a little. I went to the site early this morning and was greeted not with the normal front page and menu choices, but with a message instead:

"We interrupted your Podshow and BTPodshow social media experience for a taste of thePLUS, a combination of killer content from the Podshow+ Network and live and unedited* programming where you can expect the unexpected."Huh? Are they actually telling me that I cannot access any content right now because they want me to watch their commercial, and only their commercial? There was no mention of when they would allow me access (it is say 'shortly' and they are back to normal now) but to me that's an issue.
I don't mind being shown a screen like this while being transferred to the main page - sites do that all the time - but to actually lock users out of a system just to show an ad? A very odd model indeed.
* that sure looks edited to me

WhoTube?
Tuesday, January 02, 2007
YouTube has been a great place for people to post their videos and have some fun. Now that they are a force to be reckoned with, I wonder how they will view sites such as Podshow which are using YouTube content on their front page to promote their own site... going so far as to display the YouTube content in a Podshow branded window for playback.YouTube, like Podshow, allows a user to subscribe to content from a particular source and create "channels" of content. Podshow of course podcasts the content right to the user. Could this be the beginning of a new partnership who's goal is to podcast YouTube content, or just Podshow's way to get content from sources that they have not been able to attract on their own? And if the latter, will YouTube try to stop it from happening there and on other sites?
