Gizmo Brings IM to the Treo
Thursday, June 21, 2007
The folks over at Gizmo Project have just released their client for the Treo (and other Palm OS based devices). There's no VoIP service in this client, but then again there is no WiFi for the Treo either, so to me that doesn't matter. It does, however, provide IM connectivity not only to Gizmo's system, but to AIM and MSN with Yahoo, iChat, and Jabber coming soon.
For me this is a very timely release. My demo of Chatopus has just about expired and I was prepared to drop the $16.99 to buy the full version. Gizmo's client is free, and interesting enough appears to actually be the same program as Chatopus.

Mac Gizmo Users can now call Yahoo
Monday, March 19, 2007
Users of the PC version of Gizmo (popular Sip-based VoIP system) have had these features for a little while now, but Gizmo Project 3.0 for Mac just came out today. Among other things, this version allows users to call Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live users for free. Quoting from the anouncement: Gizmo Project 3.0 introduces meta-voice capabilities, enabling free calling to Yahoo Messenger and Windows Live users. Gizmo Project 3.0 is the first VoIP software to link together multiple popular VoIP networks into one.Now if only they'd release 3.0 for my N800... (Download 3.0 here)
