Real Hijacking
Thursday, May 03, 2007
I hate it when the term is used in relation to companies using RSS feeds to bring content to users. I understand the implications to the podcasters and if its not done "right" it can cause a lot of issues. The word "hijacking" though to me implies malice, apathy, or outright theft.A case in point: there is one site that I know of the routinly takes the feed from this blog and republishes on another with no credit to me. Today I noticed that they are now inserting ads within my posts - compare this post to this screen shot.
There is no obvious way to get in touch with this person, and there's little "oops" factor involved. (If I were to actually talk to the owner of this site there is little chance that he'd say "oops, I made a mistake.")
This person knows exactly what they are doing, and that its not right. That's hijacking.

Admitting infringement ...
Friday, March 23, 2007
It seems some are not as smitten with the recent user-created political ad "Vote Different". The fact is, fixyourthinking is seems to be absolutely correct - this seems like infringement (using "seems" a lot because I'm no attorney).
