Daily Kos is whining that Mrs. McCain's cookie recipe is the same as one published by the Hershey Corporation, quoting her as saying "The recipe came from a good friend" and accusing her of being dishonest.
Really? Is that the best you got?
90% of the "old family recipes" that have been handed down from my grandmother came from magazines, or from friends that got them from magazines. And over the years they have been transcribed onto note cards or whatever medium fit at the time. So what? I mean, there's a reason that everyone's sugar cookie recipe tastes just like everyone else's...
Kos's take on the issue?
She should be disqualified from this contest! Actually, she should be disqualified from being first lady...
What contest is she in again? Is baking a requirement of the First Lady? How many cakes and cookies do you think Hilary, Barbara, or any past First Lady in recent history has produced on behalf of the White House?
McCain wasn't "my guy" when this whole thing started, but I will probably vote for him when the time comes. That being said, silly accusations like this don't do a thing to change my my about him but they do help me form my opinions about the person making them. And that will surely effect any other arguments the writer tries to make (valid or otherwise) against McCain in the future.
