Quick and Dirty Sharing
Friday, April 11, 2008
Tip of the hat to Adam for this one. Drop.io is a super-simple way to share photos, videos, audio files, PDF's, etc. There is no account to create, security is limited to a single access password if you like, and the site that you create (ie. http://www.drop.io/treocast) can be set to expire using a whole list of time limits.
You start with 100megs of storage and can upgrade that to 1gig for $10. Not only do you get the easy sharing, blog, etc, but they also set you up with an email address for mobile posts, a phone number for call-on posts (ala Utterz), and even conference call and fax numbers.
This is perfect for any temporary groups that might want to share media, such as my kids tee-ball team; we all want to share those photos this season but don't need a permanent account somewhere that will live on beyond this season. Uploading is super simple from the site, and you can even embed an upload widget on other sites.

Nokia N810 WiMax... and?
Wednesday, April 02, 2008
There's a whole lot of talk about the announcement of Nokia's new WiMax edition of their N810 Internet Tablet. My question is: so what?
Did I miss something? Has WiMax been deployed to any great extent? Sure, there's been a lot of plans, the most notable coming from Sprint. But even their intentions now seem to be unclear.
I have a Nokia N810 and I do love it. But unless the new edition replaces the old one on store shelves, for the same money, I don't see the point. The standard N810 connects to any WiFi hotspot or uses my (Sprint) cell phone's EVDO connection via Bluetooth for internet access.
It seems to me, by the time WiMax is deployed to any great degree, the N810 will probably be phased out. So what's all the noise about?

It's Official, Hulu Sucks
Tuesday, April 01, 2008
I learned today that its not just recent television shows that "expire" from Hulu's directory, but also feature films. There doesn't seem to be any logic to it (I'm sure there is, but they don't share that logic) its just that some things go away.

That sucks. Not just from my point of view as someone who uses Hulu as a primary source for entertainment but also as a blogger who likes clipping and posting content from the shows they have on-line.

Send Email to the Past
Google has just introduced a new feature to gMail: custom time. Simply select a time in the past when composing your email and the message will appear in the appropriate slot chronologically in the recipients inbox.
Useful? Maybe...
Dangerous.. sure.
An April Fool's gag? most certainly! :)
