My favorite application for recording podcasts on a Treo, P.A.R. Pro, has just been upgraded. You can get the latest version over at Toysoft's website.

Podcast Goodness
A new Neilson report was released today indicating a very rosey present and future for podcasting:
More people have downloaded a podcast lately than have published a blog or engage in online dating, according to a new study by Nielsen//NetRatings.
It goes on to report the following statistics:
- 6.6% of the US adult online population (9.2 million people) have downloaded an audio podcast in the last 30 days
- users between the ages of 18 and 24 are twice as likely to download a podcasts as the rest of the US internet population
"The portability of podcasts makes them especially appealing to young, on-the-go audiences," Michael Lanz, an analyst with Nielsen/NetRatings, said in a statement. "We can expect to see podcasting become increasingly popular as portable content media players proliferate."
The last quote I find interesting since the latest entry into the podcasting space is geared almost entirely to the "in front of the computer" experience and treats portability as an afterthought when addressed at all.

Podcast Resources Compared
Check out the new site: okaytoplay.com. He has created some very good "high level" charts comparing various things such as flash players, portable audio recorders, advertising companies, and music providers.

Friday, July 07, 2006

Maybe it's new, maybe it's just new to me... but iTunes I noticed today now has on-demand "custom" radio stations.

Chris Pirillo "thinks small"
Saturday, July 01, 2006
Playing around for a photo, Chris struck his best "Michael Jackson" pose not knowing that the presentation for the next session was being set up on the screen behind him. See the full sized photo on Flickr.

Smokeless in Seattle
Seattle is a no-smoking city... and if I lived here, I'd be a non-smoker. Well, probably not. But at $8 a pack I would have to cut back until my first crop came in...
