Twitter's Got Taste
Wednesday, October 08, 2008
A totally tasteless account on Twitter has been disabled, and yet still has over 1000 followers. To me it shows that 'hate' is playing a large role in this election, and that's a shame.

Good example of how you must moderate in order to create a quality community. You cannot allow it to be the Wild West. The Internet is not the town square, because the town square is not anonyomous. Decency laws aside, it's not likely that a person will stand around the water cooler talking about a politician's private parts, because they'll have to look people in the eye.
People who don't moderate their web applications end up chasing away interesting commentary and attracting more people looking for a forum of last resort.
Happy to see that Twitter excludes this sort of vulgarity. Makes me feel more comfortable about entrusting my time and my reputation to Twitter.
