DNC 2008 Speeches as Podcasts

Some select speeches from the recent Democratic National Convention have been compiled and are available either through iTunes or via this podcast feed. They are in M4V format however, so you portable video player might not be compatible if its not an iPod.It seems odd to me that they wouldn't want to use a format that's more compatible with all of the players on the market.
Of course, that's only odd until I realized that the files are hosted by Apple directly; I wonder if Apple is going to do the same for the Republicans, or if this is a political statement.
