User Generated Branding

Doritos is having a contest to name a new flavor chip. Its not a new concept, and not a great contest if you ask me. The consumer is asked to buy the chips in the store, taste them, then submit a name. The winner gets a year supply of the chips... big deal.

If you go to the site though, there is a side contest: they have posted two commercials without dialog. Make up the dialog and win. Actually, the commercials they have posted now are the best. The actors are all playing out the scene saying "blah blah, blah blah blah blah... " - that pretty much sums up Doritos for me.

Oddly enough, most commercials are now like that for me.
