Hey. My name is Russell Holliman. I'm a professional project manager by day, and one of the founders of Podcast Ready by night. This is my blog about life on the web, life in general, and random things I find here and there.

Plaxo 3.0

The new Plaxo is out and I've been very happy with it so far. Finally I'm able to keep my Outlook (and thus my Treo), iCal, Address Book, Google Calendar, and LinkedIn all in sync with each other. I've been using Plaxo now for years and love it (although I do know that a lot of folks really hate those 'please update your information' emails).

I was surprised at first when I read Micheal Gartenberg's post about the newest Plaxo system. The worst problem I had during the beta testing was that Plaxo would replicate my calendar into a new calendar, leaving me with two. It wasn't a big deal, and it was fixed very quickly. Of course, after reading Michael's post I can see why he would be very frustrated with the situation. I've been a paying customer for a little while now, so if I did have the same problem I'd be able to correct it very easily.

Why companies today don't offer free test drives I'll never understand. I know that their basic service is free, and their premium services are well described, but there is just no substitute for being able to try before you buy. How many other things in life would you buy on spec alone?

I seem to remember for the last two years, Plaxo Premium has been a 30 day free trial.

Of course, you have to remember to go in and cancel your premium before the 30 days are up.

NOTE: I used to work at Plaxo.
