Maybe it's new, maybe it's just new to me... but iTunes I noticed today now has on-demand "custom" radio stations.

There are extensive lists under each category. You also get the web link to some stations in the "now playing" header. In the morning I listen to NPR on WBUR from Boston while I am working.
I don't think you can get this to your iPod but it is a nice unadvertised feature.
I am sure as IP TV becomes more prevelent, they will add that feature as well. - At 8:48 AM, Russell said...

So this isn't new? I don't use iTunes everyday, but I do fire it off at least once a week just to see whats going on. I need to pay more attention.... perhaps more sleep. :)
And I'll bet you are right on the money about IP TV. I was kind of surprised that ABC went and did their own streaming without including iTunes is some way. - At 12:36 PM, Andre said...

Maybe Apple wasn't ready - I wonder if they are working on that for the next iPod.
I recently purchased a used Ipaq HX2415 off of eBay. I found a free (donation) media player program called TCMP Core that has every codec imaginable on it so I download and watch video podcasts from iTunes. It also plays AAC files. I am unable to view purchased TV due to the DRM (I'm working on it). To make a long story longer, if they do the IP TV thing I could hopefully download shows on the Ipaq. I am sure if Apple reads this, they'll do an update to kill it. I use the PodcastReady software on the CF card for audio and video as well.
