Hey. My name is Russell Holliman. I'm a professional project manager by day, and one of the founders of Podcast Ready by night. This is my blog about life on the web, life in general, and random things I find here and there.

Mixing Media Within Feeds

Did you know that iTunes now supports PDF files within it's podcast directory? The documents show up within the feeds with a little "book" icon next to them to indicate that its not a song or a video.

Mixingmedia

Pretty cool, huh? Seems so except: when did the iPod start supporting PDF's?

This has been a pet-peeve of mine for a while now so I thought I go ahead and vent. I really hate it when podcasters mix media types within the same feed. After weeks of being a subscriber to an audio podcast, suddenly the author will decide to mix in a little video into the same feed thinking that his users will appreciate it.

Unfortunately for a lot of folks, they don't even notice. Depending on how you transfer your podcasts from you computer to your player, a lot of users are finding their MP3 players filled with video clips - video clips that their players cannot play, nor even acknowledge.

Suddenly, you just don't have as much space as you used to...
