Hey. My name is Russell Holliman. I'm a professional project manager by day, and one of the founders of Podcast Ready by night. This is my blog about life on the web, life in general, and random things I find here and there.

A rose by any other name...

Att.303x58.headerThat's right. It's time for another SBC update. Although, it's now an AT&T update. As I rapidly approach the one-year anniversary of my DSL order, an order which I still can't get scheduled for installation, my current DSL line (which is now my backup thanks to Time Warner) has failed. Not a total failure, but mearly a drop in bandwidth from around 1200Kbps to about 450Kbps.

So I called AT&T yesterday to report the problem. They detected a line issue and by 5:00pm I had a very pleasant line technician at my house. He did his thing (I had to leave for a meeting) and reported to my wife that the problem was fixed.

Upon returning home, I promptly checked the line and found that it was still running at 450. So I called again this morning. The person that answered the phone indicated that their test showed an existing line problem, and that someone would be dispatched.

Same story, different day. Except now my bandwidth is running at about 200Kbps. However, tonight when I called I was informed that the ticket had been closed: problem solved. The person I was speaking with said that their test still showed a line problem, but the ticket was closed and the best they could do was issue a new ticket and start me over in the queue.

And the kicker is, no one that I speak with at AT&T seems to think any of this is a problem...
