Hey. My name is Russell Holliman. I'm a professional project manager by day, and one of the founders of Podcast Ready by night. This is my blog about life on the web, life in general, and random things I find here and there.

Question of the day: If you put a podcast out there, and no one downloads it, is it a podcast?

Big news of the day? Infostructure Solutions, LLC – the parent company of mobilepodcast.org – has committed to continue this particular project for another year, devote more time and resources to participating in the podcast community, and continue to contribute where possible.

To that end, we have reserve a large chunk of space and have begun selling file storage sites under the domain: podlot.com. We all know that bandwidth has become a big concern with podcasters today, and we think we have found a way to help. Podlot.com can supply the storage space for your actual podcast files – you maintain your regular web site, blog, etc – and the bandwidth for the RSS feed is taken from podlot. At what cost? $4 for unlimited bandwidth.

Test it out for yourself, and maybe found out about a few podcasts that you might not know about.

Infostructure Solutions is committed to helping the podcast community and has strong desire to keep the phenomenon strong and growing.

Okay, enough about that… (and no, we won’t be talking about it a lot during future shows – that’s not what the mobilepodcast.org project is all about)

My trip to “South by Southwest” is over. It was a lot of fun, but I was a little disappointed over all. But I think too it’s because I was already aware of most everything was discussed. The general audience though, well, that’s a different story. So in short, I was not their target audience.

Last time, I promise: go check out Barry Dobyn’s “Nothing to Declare” podcast. It’s very clever.

Also too, subscribe to our social station on GigaDial. It’s an RSS feed that contains shows that other listeners add. It’s very simple, just go to GigaDial and find the show. Add it to the station titled “mobilepodcast.org open station” and everyone else that’s subscribed will get it. It’s a great social tool to turn others onto podcasts.

And no one can do a podcast this week without at least mentioning Adam Curry and podshow.com. All I can say is, at least Curry seems to get it. I heard a podcast this weekend where on the one hand they were forming a network – very elitist – and you can beg to join if you feel lucky. But on the other hand they were looking for some guru’s to do some (free) server and web work to help support the “community.” Of course, some would say that it’s exactly what Curry’s done…

Portable Firefox and portable Thunderbird. This means that you can run both (complete with bookmarks, cookies, email account settings, messages, etc.) from a portable disk like a thumbdrive and never have to install anything on the workstation. This is great if you work machines are locked down…

This weekend the same news reported that Americans are becoming to overly obese that the majority are destine to die before their time, while social security is going bankrupt. Why don’t we just subsidise McDonald’s and solve the problem…

TXHOUcans

The “Beer Can House” here in Houston gets a $125,000 grant for maintenance and upkeep…

Housekeeping note: testing the new version (2.5) of P.A.R. Pro. Works well but there is a bug in the recorded time reading… it does not read.
