Hey. My name is Russell Holliman. I'm a professional project manager by day, and one of the founders of Podcast Ready by night. This is my blog about life on the web, life in general, and random things I find here and there.

A "Red Faced Texan" TPC for 02/16

It seems lately there has been a rash of embarrassing news coming out of Texas… beginning with the “non” demonstration staged by a few local PITA supporters.

The “Love In” was supposed to call the attention of Houstonians to the benefits of being vegetarian. They failed, however, to call attention to much at all. Perhaps these PITA activists should have checked with PITA first. Then they would have found that they were protesting in a city that PITA calls one of the top ten vegetarian-friendly cities in the country.

And then there is the ex-wife of Astros Baseball star Jeff Bagwell. The ex-Mrs. Bagwell sold her cleavage on eBay for advertising. I don’t know if she had a air-tight pre-nump or perhaps just a bad lawyer, but apparently she’s strapped for cash. Maybe now she can afford that (other) double-wide…

And lastly is the article about the woman charged with killing her husband using a sherry enema. (Sorry, no pictures on this one.) I was not going to talk about this one at first, but it keeps coming up in the news. Now she claims that he gave himself the enema, and had been doing so for years. It was the fastest way for him to get drunk… he was over 4x the legal limit when he died. But now she has testified that he used to swap enema recipes over the internet and among his favorites were the sherry recipe and a coffee recipe…

Red-light cameras are coming to Houston, and I think I saw my first one the other day. How does this work exactly? Is the private company “deputised” to enforce the law?

Cut to the chase: don’t bother, they both suck…

Treo application recommendation: TreoAlarm. Neat little application that gives you eight customisable alarms plus a great little weather report. It can even be set to retrieve this report (from the National Weather Service) at a particular time in the morning, although it only takes seconds… It’s still in beta so there is no charge at the moment.
