Hey. My name is Russell Holliman. I'm a professional project manager by day, and one of the founders of Podcast Ready by night. This is my blog about life on the web, life in general, and random things I find here and there.

Microsoft's OS Verification

I was having trouble getting ‘autoplay’ to work on my XP Pro machine when I inserted a memory stick. A quick search pointed me to a Microsoft program called AutoFix which was reported to be able to fix my problem. When I tried to download it, however, I was asked to verify the authenticity of my operating system installation.

In all fairness, it was optional. But i went ahead and agreed just to see what happened. Guess what? You cannot successfully verify your operating system’s authenticity if you are using Mozilla or Firefox – you have to use IE.

What a crock.

So I finally declined and downloaded the file… much to my surprise, it worked like a champ. Check the comments if you’d like a copy…
